Tip #4 Social Media Engagement as a Facebook Marketing Tip

Social media marketing through Facebook is greatly useful as it is home to 1.44 billion monthly users. So what better way to market your brand than through it? As business owners in Orange County, you have the privilege to create a Facebook business page where you can market your brand and engage with your customers. The question is, how can you maximize your brand’s impression and get engagement through Facebook marketing on your business page?

The sure fire way of getting ‘Likes’ in my opinion is by sending out private messages to your friends. You don’t know it but you already have fans amongst your family, friends and relatives who are more than willing to belong to your business page fan base. Below are lists of other things you can do to get the ‘Likes’ or engagement your Facebook business page seeks:

 1. Choose the right Profile Picture (PP). Images are what attracts viewers to your page so make sure to use an image for your PP (Profile Picture) which can easily be associated to your company. It can be a logo,  a headshot of the business owner or a banner of your brand to make it easier for your followers to recognize you and easier still for them to ‘Like’ your page.

2. Cover Photo(CP). Make sure that your cover photo is of the right dimension (i.e. 851 pixels wide x 315 pixels tall. There’s a portion of the cover photo which is hidden due to the placement of your profile picture so for your viewers not to miss  out on any important component on your cover, use  applications like timelinecoverbanner. Most importantly, use an image that will capture the attention of viewers to make them visit your page.

3. Add links to your Cover Photo(CP) or Profile Picture(PP). If your purpose of adding a business page is to drive more traffic to your company website, make use of shortened links by Bitly. This is quite powerful not just to get more website visits but for your customers and potential buyers to get to know your company/products/services better.

4. Add a Call to Action (CTA) button on your CP. Facebook has incorporated templates you can choose from:”Sign Up,” “Shop Now'” “Contact Us,” “Book Now,” “Use App,” “Watch Video,” and “Play Game” which are great options for your business to get more traffic to your website.

5. Make Use of Apps. Facebook can be customized with apps which you can download on the App Center. This is one way for your viewers not to miss on the latest information about your website without having to recycle it as an update on your timeline.

6. Make Use of your ‘About’ section. For viewers to get a gist of what your company is all about, incorporate a descriptive information on your’About’ section. More often than not, viewers read this short section before deciding to ‘Like’ your page or before clicking on your CTA.

7. Photo  and Video Posts. To get better engagement with your followers or viewers another Facebook marketing tip is to post photos or videos and add a short description,or better yet, post a question along with it to entice your audience to share their thoughts on the matter.

8. Share other contents too! If you post photos and videos too often, you may notice that your Facebook reach and engagement decline. This is because your audience are already losing interest on your ‘expected’ post. To avoid this from happening, share contents from other websites too, but make sure that the image used by that website is of the right dimension too (1200 x 650 pixels ) to optimize sharing. Contents with images this size get more shares and ‘Likes’ compared to their smaller counterparts.

9. Alternate between promotional and non-promotional posts. Same reason as number 9, the purpose is to prevent overwhelming your audience. For a promotional one, make sure that your CTA or links are posted before the fifth line to make it easier for your audience to see it rather than have them click on the “See More…” portion.

10. Timing. To increase the chances of getting better social media engagement and reach, post on the time where there is a peak activity level on Facebook. According to a survey, the peak level of activity on Facebook is around 3PM EST so you might want to post at this time and verify the accuracy of the report by checking your post insights at this time. It is also worthy to note that posting 1-2 times a day get better ‘Likes’ than doing it too often.

11. Schedule Posts or Set Expiration Time. To save time which you can use to engage with your audience instead, schedule posts in advance. To do this, simply click the dropdown arrow next to the publish button, select Schedule, set the appropriate Date and Time and hit Schedule at the bottom right. For promos or special offers, we recommend that you set it to expire at your desired date and time.

12. Pin on Top. This option is useful especially if you have updates or future events you want your viewers to know about instead of it getting pushed down by other updates or posts. To do this, just click on the arrow on the upper right corner of your post and select ‘Pin on Top’ from the dropdown options.

13. Choose when to Comment. Whether it’s a complaint or a compliment of your product or brand, make sure to dedicate time to post comment replies to your fans. This is also one great way to determine what your fans think of your product which you can use to improve or enhance it.

14. Analyze insights and other metrics. This is a great way to measure the success or failure of your Facebook efforts. Analyzing Facebook Insights will also allow you to determine how your fans interact with your page and the demographics of those who are engaging with your posts. With this tools, you can reassess your strategies to make your metrics soar.

15. Advertise through Facebook. With more than 161 million (out of 1.44 billion) users being in the US and Canada alone, it is but a necessary conclusion to use a little of your marketing budget on Facebook. As it acquired video companies and increased Facebook viewability metric to 10 seconds, it provides a great platform to market your brand and increase your reach as a business.
